When you write 5 pages single spaced form, then realize you only needed 5 pages double-spaced, you find out reading the directions again was a good idea.
Awesome, That is your homeschoolish moment of the day. I a clear a victim, but hopefully my grade will be all the better for it.
I’m here, Hopefully I have survived my latest bout of the block, Writer’s that is. I decided for a few days that my next post for sure was gonna be something about homeschooling, but I honestly couldn’t formulate words that were good enough to hit “post” on. Alas, they will stay as a draft for now, and maybe I’ll think of a different subject in homeschooling to type out.
A couple days a go my Mother got a MacBook. Her other computer was just bad, an hp desktop that never really worked right. I’ve heard the joke that “Once you go Mac, you never go back”, but I wonder if that most of the time is the case. Of course It’s been only a couple days, but i really like it, plus now I can look into iPhone app programming.
In this series I go through old (or newish) bands you should absolutely know about, but either forgot about, were one-hit wonders, or broke up after one album.
All Together Separate. I can’t really find much about them, apparently according to wikipedia they were frequently comapred to “Earth, Wind, and Fire.” More from Wikipedia:
The group was formed at California Baptist University in the late 1990s, and first began playing for student conferences and retreats.[2] Signing to Ardent Records, their first album was released in 1999, and was nominated for a Dove Award for Best Rock Album in 2000.[1] In 2001, Ardent released a live album recorded at their home church, Harvest Christian Fellowship.
Guitarist Andrew Shirley became a touring member of Switchfoot in 2003, and a full member of the band subsequently.[2]
That pretty much sums up my knowledge of them. After 3 albums including a live worship one, they pretty much disbanded, and guitarist Drew Shirley moved on to bigger things: joining Switchfoot. If you really want to know more about them, you may like this All Together Separate Fan Page, which includes some pics.
On to their music now, I seriously thought I had only heard one song by them, that’s right, one song.
HEY ITS PLAYED BY AIR1, LIKE ONCE A MONTH.
THEN, after looking over the track listing to their worship album “Ardent Worship Live”, I noticed the song “We know that you are God“, and I remembered singing that all the time at our Calvary Chapel in Las Vegas (where I used to live). According to this page they also wrote it.
Air1 was where I heard the song “Paradigm“, and I liked it. It has good lyrics like: “Everybody loves a rose But will you be thankful for the thorns? Love is easy when you’re loved But do you curse another when you’re alone” or “And sticks and stones do hurt When tossed from the tongue of mankind”
Go ahead listen to the song “Paradigm“. Comment and let me know what you think, especially if you heard any of their other songs.
On our way out of town, we stopped by a family christian bookstore (God Bless the Manager), hoping to score Third Day’s latest: “Revelation”. To be honest I’ve never been a big Third Day fan, but they have really grown on me the last couple of years.
I’m impressed with it, this is the kinda album that you appreciate more on the second time around, and since I drove for some 4 hours last night I listened to it twice. Lyrically it also is very good with songs like Revelation and Call My Name, and the last track “Take it All”.
The song “Born Again” is nice ballad featuring Lacey Mosley of flyleaf. I’ve never liked flyleaf, probably because someone in my youth group compared them to Switchfoot (one of my favorites), but she really sounds good though in this duet with Mac Powell of Third Day. I’ll have to give Flyleaf another chance someday lol.
So I was gone this weekend, left Friday came back Monday. Friday I spent the day in Lake Mead with Church friends. We (my familia) had a great time, the funny/highlight was cliffjumping. Me and a couple friends hiked up an island cliff in Lake Mead, I did it barefooted (not recommended). I was some ways behind and one of them just jumped off… then the other…. They both survived so I thought “eh, I should too.” So I jumped, Thought i was gonna die, but survived to do it again. It had to be at least 60ft high. I’d recommend checking the water depth before jumping though.
I’m not really sure how to snazz up this post, but figured it was quite a step out of the comfort box, so I posted it. In a bit I’ll write about Third Day’s new album.
Thank you Lord. Test actually went well, and the driving instuctor was very nice. All I had to do was the driving test, since I had a permit already (which only requires a written test). I got marked down on my california roll through stop signs, stopping to close to cars, and not looking over my shoulder on left lane changes (the lane change to turn left), but still passed.
w00t.
Pic is German driving school in 1903. Props: wikipedia
I’m currently in the market for my first car. Yesterday I took a trip to see ze familia in Ventura County. My grandma has a neighbor who apparently didn’t mind selling a car, its a “beauty” (as he called it) that needed a fumigation bomb in it to rid it of spiders. The car looked to be sitting forever, but surprising ran ok, and needs probably $300-$600 worth of work put into it to make it so I won’t be leaving on the side of the freeway. Oh well, we were miles away on price, but he may come down eventually, 84 honda accords ftw.
